When it comes to presenting your home for sale, setting the stage to attract your ideal buyer isn’t always as simple as it seems. Tastes can vary greatly even within your desired target audience… not to mention some rooms sell themselves far easier than others! That huge kitchen with counter space to spare and an island that makes the Bahamas jealous may be a slam dunk. But how do you showcase a space as personal and distinctive as a bedroom? Often seen as one’s sanctuary, your bedroom may evoke the tranquility of a beach – but what if your buyer is seeking serenity with a metropolitan, mountain or modern vibe instead?

Here are some of our bedroom basics for spaces that maximize universal appeal & minimize revolting remarks, courtesy of the California Association of Realtors®.

#1: Flaunt comfort & livability. All sellers need a home staged that they can ACTUALLY live in, and we’d confidently argue that all buyers find value in a space that looks soft and enjoyable! (We’ve never heard anyone say “Ewww - that bed looks too comfy!”).

#2: Leave room for the imagination. We rarely showcase ‘theme’ bedrooms, as the hope is that the buyer can picture their own serene setting in the space. The layout, amount of furniture and colors should serve as a limitless foundation filled with potential.

#3: Allow for fashion & function. Let’s face it: Silicon Valley space is a premium. It’s not uncommon for bedrooms to include office spaces, for kids to share rooms and for guest quarters to double as a den. Why not show their versatility as another far-reaching feature?
