Silicon Valley offers endless ways to celebrate the 4th of July… and we want to provide Independence Day inspiration whether you are seeking to celebrate with a large community event or smaller-style group gathering!

BAY AREA EVENTS

This is the first summer in a couple years that many 4th of July events are fully ‘back.’ While pandemic events closures led to a surge in home firework usage, professionals are urging citizens to leave the fireworks to the professionals to stay personally safe and reduce community fire risk.

The following South Bay firework displays will no doubt bring some light to our skies – save this list for your Monday viewing fun!

In addition, KRON 4 has released this diverse list of fourth of July events ranging from the USS Hornet’s BBQ and tunes to our own local San Jose Rose, White & Blue parade! So many choices… it’s a good problem to have!

HAPPENINGS AT HOME

If a smaller group gathering in your home or neighborhood is more your style – there are some fun ways to add extra fun to that celebration too!

Bring Back The Block Party: Whether to welcome new neighbors or reconnect with those you know and appreciate, a block party can be as simple as a group text to BYOB (bring your own beverage) to your driveway at 5pm for a 4th of July toast, or as big as a bounce house & BBQ extravaganza. Get more idea at… Pinterest (where else?!).

Set-Up A S’mores Bar: If you have a firepit in your backyard, you can’t go wrong with marshmallows, graham crackers and a Hershey bar. But you can also get it right with even crazier combos such as salted caramel + bacon s’mores or a shortbread base. Camping For Foodies offers some fun combos in the graphic below. Make It Movie Night: If staying indoors with your pets is your plan, pull out the popcorn and pick a few good finds from this 4th of July movie list from Town & Country Magazine. Nothing says freedom like endless screen snacking, right?

No matter what you do and how you recognize America’s birthday, we hope your 4th of July weekend is filled with friends, food and fun. The gift of those freedoms is priceless.
