Back-To-School On The Brain

back to school

Most of you know I’m not only a real estate agent but a pretty proud dad too. While my daughter has graduated college and my son is in his teenage years, August still speaks to me as that season of back-to-school. Our family adventures may not end when summer does, but there is definitely a bit of a shift in which our household feels ‘back to business’ (don’t worry – we never get too serious!).

With back-to-school on the brain I wanted to share a few reads from ‘round the web that relate to falling into routines and how our homes & lifestyles go with it. Regardless of where you are at in your mindset, remember it has been said that “Summer is a state of mind," and you can absolutely make the most of any season with a little planning and a lot of time with loved ones!

12 Life-Changing Morning Routine Hacks That'll Get You Out the Door Faster

Real Simple Magazine

We all have routines, but we don’t all take the time to intentionally re-visit and re-arrange them (at least I know I don’t as often as I should!). This read from Real Simple offers 12 game changing integrations to make mornings smoother; my personal favorites are the advice to drink water first thing & prepare for minor emergencies. That lint remover by the door is a must… as is a fully charged portable phone charger.

8 Things Parents Wish They’d Checked Before Buying Their House

Did you know that some of the best back-to-school tips have nothing to do with your school district? While most families consider neighborhood schools when choosing their home, there are other home features that can make a home student friendly or not. This article reminds buyers how bedroom placement, sightlines, sidewalks and more can make your day – both before and after school.

Having raised kids in Silicon Valley and driven the school drop off as often as I’ve held open houses, I’m happy to share what has worked and what has not with kids, homes, school routines & the family time that surrounds it. (My own priorities relate to the kitchen and the memories we make there – ask the kids about my famous French onion soup, goggles included!)

Cheers to a welcome transition for us all as August marches on,

Mark
