Seriously Simple Kitchen Improvements

quick kitchen

If you are ready to refresh your kitchen with some small home improvements that make a big impact, you have come to the right place! This week, Homes of Silicon Valley is excited to share some projects that can add a fast and fresh spin to the arguably most popular room in your home (especially if you have pets or teenagers!).

***On a versatile note, these tips can be used in a home you just purchased, in a residence you are preparing for sale OR to refresh a rental property. Whether for your own enjoyment every day or to inspire a great first impression… here you go!

A 5-MINUTE MOMENT

There are two-projects that take approximately 5-minutes but make you feel 10x better. One is removing scuffs and dirt marks from kitchen appliance surfaces and cabinet doors with a magic eraser. The other is purging old or un-used items from a drawer, one drawer at a time. (We all have THAT junk drawer, right?!)

A 30-MINUTE FIX

Few things outdate a kitchen as quickly as old lighting styles. Funky fans and old school pendant lights swapped for sleek brass and glass pendants will make a welcome world of difference.

A 1-HOUR ADJUSTMENT

Ready for a solution that is literally clean in form and function? Replace faucets with motion-activated, touch-free types. Often called the ‘garnish’ of the kitchen, faucets are often-overlooked as an easy, affordable and impactful improvement.

A WEEKEND WARRIOR WIN

Get ready, get set… and go pick out a new tile backsplash! If you have two days and an above average DIY skill set (or know someone who does!), a new kitchen backsplash can be a really worthwhile use of your time. Home improvement stores have more stock options than ever including herringbone, hexagon and mosaic types. There are even self-adhesive subway tiles.

These ideas are from the recent article ‘10 Practical Kitchen Improvement Projects Based on How Much Time You Have’; read it in full on Realtor.com.

As always, if you want to know what home projects are worth your while from an ROI perspective, from a lifelong home perspective or what is worth hiring vs. trying, please know I am always here to help! ~ Mark
