Staging: Can Plants Power Up Your Max ROI?

Staging is no longer an option when it comes to capturing max ROI in the sale of your home. DIY programs and HGTV series have set buyer expectations high when it comes to what a potential home should look and feel like inside. Today Homes of Silicon Valley is pleased to share some stats on staging 101, as well as a pro tip that is beyond basic and big in impact!

According to the NAR® 2021 Profile of Home Staging, 82% of buyers’ agents reported that staging made it easier for buyers to visualize themselves in the home. Nearly ¼ said that home staging led to offers that were 1-5% more than homes that were not staged, and nearly 20% replied that home staging increased a residence’s dollar value by 6-10%. While all the stats support the necessity of home staging, many sellers worry that the result will be a cold, sterile space. Enter the newest trend in the industry: plant staging! Soothing plantscapes can create calm and breathe life into homes that have been de-cluttered and de-personalized. There are plants, plant stands and greenery types to compliment virtually every type of home style from modern farmhouse to art deco.

In order to be effective, plant staging should incorporate low-maintenance options, avoiding those that drop leaves, need a lot of light or commonly trigger allergies. The right size plant in the right space used sparingly can create a focal point and/or showcase an amenity such as a fireplace or built-in bookcase.
