How Will You Market MY Home? | 7 Questions To Ask

Let’s face it…on the surface it may feel like every home is marketed exactly the same. When you imagine listing your home, you probably picture it on the MLS, Zillow, RedFin, Trulia and Realtor.com. You know there will be professional photos involved and probably a pretty nice flyer to go along with it. Virtual tours, open houses, neighborhood previews…you know the drill.

But dive beneath the surface and consider what other possibilities exist. If you really want the best return on your investment, you don’t want your home to be marketed like every other home to attract every buyer; you want it marketed like your home to attract your buyer.

Here are 7 questions we highly recommend you ask an agent who is selling your home. (And yes…you can ask us and bet we have some pretty good answers! ;) )

1. What information will you gather (and how) to determine the best buyer profile for my property?

2. What services & contacts do you have to help me affordably and efficiently prepare my home to enter the market?

3. What marketing efforts will you utilize to advertise my home; does that include social media and to what extent?

4. What tools do you have available to target potential buyers? Are you able to target by employer, home type being sought, interest level, etc.?

5. What will you do to highlight my home’s best features? How will you overcome areas that may need a little TLC?

6. What is the average days on market for the last 6 homes you have sold (or quarterly average)?

7. What factors will ultimately influence how you market my home, what response you expect and how you will modify the strategy over time?
